Founded in 1913, City of Hope began with two tents that were built at the base of California's San Gabriel Mountains as a refuge for people stricken with tuberculosis. Today, those two tents have evolved into what are now the City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute. The organization's goal remains the same - to seek out treatments and cures for diseases that take too many lives far too soon. City of Hope is a Comprehensive Cancer Center - the highest accolade given by the National Cancer Institute - and one of the most advanced biomedical research and treatment facilities in the world. This remarkable organization is dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
The entire National Office Products Industry has supported City of Hope for 25 years, providing funds for ground-breaking research as well as the treatment of patients suffering from serious illnesses. City of Hope has made tremendous contributions, but there is much more work to be done.
